2008 - How was it for you?

Has anyone had a GOOD year?

Promotion at work
Went to Paris to see the last day of the tour
Stood on top of Sydney Harbour Bridge
Married a perfect woman in a rain forest on the other side of the planet

In all not too bad.

Two years ago however, my mother died, my sister died, my sister in law died and I was seriously injured... so if you've had a crap one this year, here's hoping 2009 is much better, I believe it all evens out in the end.

Mixed.

My partner died suddenly in April and lost my job in June.

But got a chance to work in the South of France for 8 weeks, and naturally took the bike with me, and am now studying in Northern Finland.

It was a very mixed year for me. A friend committed suicide and I'm worried about my sister's alcoholism. Had a cat put down and seen a significant decline in household income thanks to the recession. Then again I've published in some reasonable journals and am starting to get asked to speak internationally (which forced me to confront my fear of flying!). My formerly suicidal best friend is now a married mom and very happy - so that's a real result.

It's not been a great year for cycling - injuries, illnesses, bad weather and general busyness all got in the way.

Next year I hope to be moving which with any luck might pep up my love life.

for the three month my back was very bad so no cycling
only used my kayak 4 times
crap summer didn’t even go fishing
and this month my backs bad again

so so year really.

cousin died, sad but she had been battling with a hole in heart all her life and was never expected to make 36 months, let alone 36 years.

my bro in law and his wife lost an ivf pregnancy.

dd has started football, and ds1 beavers.

work for me and mrs alecetc same old.

a few camping holidays were nice.

personal highlight for me was completing the wild wales challenge.

oh, and yesterday i won my first online mario kart race.

My thesis proposal was rejected. boo!
I stopped enjoying my teaching. boo!
I joined the theatre. yay!
I met a gorgeous and wonderful woman. yay!
I got a great teaching job. yay!
I got my thesis proposal accepted. yay!
I acted in the Panto. yay!
My cat died. boo!
I got dumped by text. boo!
My dog died. boo!
My friend died. boo!
I am exhibiting some of my furniture work. yay!
I have just taught my last full classes and in January I am down to two half days of teaching. boo!
