First post and hopefully I'm on the right board.

Looking for advice on buying a bike for my 7 year old son. I presume a 20" wheel and 13" frame is my best bet. 24" is just too big for him right now. Want to spend up to £150 and would welcome recommendations or suggestions on what I should be looking at.

So far tempted with: Raleigh Hot Rod http://www.mailorderbikes.com/products.php?plid=m1b0s11p388 or Barracuda Exodus http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/barracuda-exodus-credo-item145890.html

Any good and am I looking in the right places?

I know it's not muich of a budget but didn't want to end up getting him an Apollo!

Thanks

Hi, Ive got my son a Trek MT60, little bit more money than you mention @ £190, but i think its a great bike for a young lad, lightweight, 6 speed etc ....

well I've got to say this...

i have three girls, none of their bikes cost more than £25. all three bikes are good spec BUT all are second hand.
the way they get chucked about, i don't feel it's worth spending out on a child's bike that they will out grow in a few years.

shop around. you can find some real bargains on second hand kids bikes

and once again, my best bargain bike... £12 from local recycling centre (a £150 bike when new)...
