What a tosser.

Why dont you just answer me on my question of how a singlespeed is better then a geared? Surely riding a geared bike in one gear that has a 3/32 chain is just the same?
Why dont you just answer that? You know, spread some knowledge. Its how boards work you know;)

Now, not all the people riding singlespeeds are idiots, Spandex rides a single speed(IIRC) because of his knee, and hes not an idiot.

Because you are rude, vile and offensive, as seems to be your modus operandi in general. And I wasn't talking to you - if the OP wants to know more, I'll be only too happy to try to assist; if not, that is entirely a matter for him.

Well, them im not talking to you, if you cant answer a genuine question asked that was posed against your reply.

But what are the benifits of singlespeed over fixed, or of riding singlespeed over a geared bike placed just in one gear?
Can anyone answer me?

So, whats the advantage of riding singlespeed over just riding a geared bike, with a 3/32 chain in one gear?

Errr excuse me gentlemen....

Wigsie, I might have a frame for you. Early 80s Raleigh Clubman, Reynolds 531 frame and forks (nice condition, minor scratches - the usual for a 25 year old frame). It's 24 or 25" with horiz drop outs so okay for SS or fixed if that's what you fancy. Quite a big frame so you'll need to be 6'2"+, I'm only a tiny 6' so it's a bit big for me!

It's the same frame as this one - http://cyclechat.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=32734

You can have it if you pay the postage (or collect) and make a 'fair price' donation to Shaun's Cycle Chat fund (see announcements) - let me know if you're interested.

You have a deal! and I shall donate to the CC fund no worries. Where are you based? have clients all over the Uk so can usually nip up to see them to collect the odd bit. or postage not a problem.

Your not going to have to change your name to two bikes now though are you?

I'll PM you with details tomorrow - collect is obviously best for me as it saves me boxing the ruddy thing up!

Don't worry I'll still have at least three!

It's very small - but the fixed wheel will have less dish and will be marginally more efficient in transmitting power from the pedals to the wheel.

So, is it as i suspected that there is no advantage to riding singlespeed, due to the fixed wheel being more efficent(slightly)

Er, no, because that's exactly NOT what he just said...
