You can place a bit too much emphasis on preparation. It often comes down to whether you get on with the people interviewing you, it can be that simple.

I wouldn't disagree with that.

It can be as simple as first impressions/knowing your field/mutual respect

I'd say they are desperate! Maybe lots of others have dropped out and they're getting short of candidates. Could mean you have a better chance.

If you are using a pratnav and postcode, double check that the postcode is accurate. Agencies can be very sloppy giving details

Maybe, but four years ago my interview for my current job was along those lines.

In fact a job didn't even exist before I went for a chat.
