PS I wonder how much difference an aero helmet would make or a carbon bike, aero wheels, full on aero-tt bike, tri bars, skinsuits, light tyres, light tubes, aero-shoe covers, loosing a couple of kilos.....

For me a TT bike with standard wheels and none of the other stuff mentioned gives me almost a minute (comparing vs. times in the club's athlete's (normal road bike) 10. However I've never done a road bike 10 in really good still conditions so that's likely to be an overestimate of the advantage, not by much I suspect.

Well done to both BTW. I expect you'll be back for more...

Although my best reductions in time have come when I've bothered to do some training. Or if I've spent a week riding a lot in a hilly area.

Well done both. I did my first (and so far, only) 10 mile TT last year. I managed 32.31 which I was happy enough with. 30 minutes is my target for this year.

I hope to do a 5 mile TT next week and then a few 10 milers when I get back from LEJOG in May.

started time trials last week :becool:

1st one was 5miles @ 13m27 and last night was 7.25 miles @ 19m3.

i start on the small ring on the front and ring 6 (on a ten speed cassette) on the rear. this gives me a good run up to speed then straight onto the big ring and settle down to a good pace.

i run the computer on average speed with the knowledge that 21-22 av mph is gonna give me a good time and then just adjust this on how i feel.

also get some TT clip on bars, well worth the money. mine were only £42.

cant seem to get used to "mounting up" at the start. something in my head tells me i cant lift both feet of the ground when standing still

got my first 10 mile next week.

well done and good luck everyone :becool:

excellent improvement!

I would say tribars are a massive plus and being a bit tubby is unlikely to make you faster, so a few kg off will help. Partic uphill......

Well done to you guys, I will be joining the TT crowd on Wednesday evening hopefully. It's going to be a 12 mile course, organised by a local triathlon club. I will have a little moral support from a mate who is a regular competitor.

Hope I can do my new bike justice.
