Those forks would worry me, I'd want to know how deep that corrosion has penetrated. That was the problem with chrome plating, looked great but it's porous and lets water through.

Lovely looking bike just needs a bit of TLC. If its been sitting awhile I would pretty much strip it, regrease the headset, BB, wheel hubs. Clean rear derailleur. Get a new complete cable kit, some new tyres, and ride it like you stole it.
