I'm looking into the hobby, and I have a 1981 Moser Roadbike that's in decent condition. From what I can tell I know I need tubular tires and a new chain (the current chain is rusted stiff). Does anyone have any advice for what I should do with the bike? Is it worth fixing up? Once I do should I ride it or sell it?

you could just sell as is or you could get it rideable and just use it @IanHalliday but either way we need pics please

A Moser, sounds nice. If it only needs new tubs and a chain go ahead and do it. You might want to consider changing the rims so they accept regular tyres as tubs are really for racing and are rather pricey. Be great to see a pic if you can put one up.

I don't think you upload them directly to the site as you don't have enough posts so best use a link to a photo sharing site.

If you do not fancy doing the work yourself, drop it off at the local bike shop for a service before you take it out. This will give you time to think about what bike you want to upgrade to, that is if you want to upgrade when you start cycling again?

Sorry about the delayed reply. I was just able to take some pictures this morning. Check out the link and let me know what you think. It needs some work but I love the idea of riding an antique. More for pleasure than for sport.

Thanks for the help so far, here's the link: https://plus.google.com/116769926425890052338/posts/TNGY2xNkCFF

Thanks for the tip, I went ahead and uploaded it via Google+

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
That's a huge frame - was it originally yours? How tall are you? Gluing on tubs is a bit of an art, might be worth asking your LBS for help. By the way - the most informative photos of a bike are of the drive side - showing the chain wheels, front and rear derailleurs.

Measure the seat tube from the centre of the crank to the top of the tube. If you're 6'2" (same height as me) you should be fine.
Replace the cables, check the wheels are true, if not get them straightened. Most expensive items will be the tubs, cheapest I could see were sixty quid a pair online. Might be a good idea to get your LBS to glue them as youngoldbloke says. Cassette and chain wheel look fine. Then you should be good to go!
