My right hand shimano 105 (5600) shifter doesn't return to vertical after shifting down a gear. This means I can't shift down any further or shift up on the inner lever unless I push the lever back to it's vertical position. The gear shifts and braking seem OK - the cables seem to move freely, bit it's just that the lever doesn't spring back.

I've given it a good blast with GT85, but it's no better. Is there anything else I can do or is it back to the shop?

If a blast of GT85 didn't work I'd replace the outer housing, because they can get clogged up a bit.

Yup, agree with @smokeysmoo , it is a well known problem. And one of my 105 levers suffered from it. It's usually the right hand (front mech) lever that goes.

I would advise taking the gear cable right out of the shifter and see if the lever clicks away and returns to normal.

If not it may be the return spring that has gone. This (I think) is repairable but will probably cost what the shifter is worth.

I've pulled all the cables out today and it's still not returning. It's only a few months old so should still be under warranty.

Thanks for your help.
