105 di2 groupset - price differences.

Am I missing something in that the likes of Merlin do a 105 di2 groupset for £899 - but Tredz/balfe and one or two others are £1400 - sure Tredz are always a bit more expensive - but just wondering are these the same product?

I think the recommended retail price is around the £1400 price.

But there are a number of places selling for quite a it less. IME, Merlin are usually one of the cheapest places.

Rotors / chain - what else would I need that's not included?

Yes. Merlin CDR 1 wheelset - Merlin have confirmed it will take 12 speed 105 cassette.

That article in part was what led to my question. At £900 it appears to be the cheapest non mechanical groupset. Can only assume the launch price was £1500 approx

I already have it and think it's great. But have the chance to update to 12 speed at quite a saving over RRP.

The only thing not included in the Merlin offer is rotors. Which aren't "a helluva lot more" - £35 for the pair, in either 140 or 160mm..

They include shifters, brake hoses, brake callipers (and pads), battery, wires, bottom bracket, chainset, cassette, and both mechs. What more do you think would be included in a groupset?

The Balfes one doesn't include the bottom bracket, or the wires.

The chain is included.

And if you have suitable wheels, you probably already have rotors, which is probably why they don't include them.
