Picked this beauty up last year. Ten years old. Just had him serviced and new tyres. Single speed set up 46/22 but with S2C kickshift hub. Very happy with my new steed.

Once you get the hang of it it’s great. The ‘low’ gear is ok for most of the hills around me and the overdrive is great for flat. I can’t see myself climbing or descending the Col De Tourmulet or the Alp d’Huez but otherwise it’s great. Mind you, being 531 it’s bloody heavy compared to today’s carbon jobs.

Define "bloody heavy". My gaspipe pug wasn't that heavy.

About 14-15kg. Heavy I suppose compared to today’s carbon things and the aluminium fixie I was riding before.

OK, that is quite heavy! I was expecting more around 10-11kg.

Regards the Sc2, I presume it's a Sturmey hub, and has 2 ratios, how do you change the ratio? Do you kick back ,like you would a coaster brake , or tap something with your heel, if it's a fixed I'd imagine it's a bit of a knack.
When I was riding fixed 30 yrs ago there was a device that changed the Fixed to a freewheel, must have been some kind of clutch, I was tempted to give it a go.
But stuck with riding like a whirling dervish, legs spinning like mad, jhell yeah , happy days, when I was strong and fit, if not particularly fast.

Yes, it’s a kick shift change. Pedal back further and harder to engage brake.
