    slick tyres and snow/slush

Normally at this time of year, i swap my slickish tyres for nobbly tyres... but i threw the old nobblies out after last winter. Should i take my chances riding fat slick tyres in the snow, or go and buy some nobblies?

Advice please: Fitting Foldable Tyres on my Road Bike( Conti 4 Seasons)

I have been bought some of these for Christmas, having been recomended them. I have a B Twin 520. I have never seen foldable tyres before. Is there anything I need to know about fitting them ? Should we get them out of the box to get the folds out or is that a stupid question? Thank you in advance.

    Tyres for an MTB

Hi, my wife has an MTB with 27.5 wheels but she wants to swap the knobblys for something more suitable with less resistance for touring on the roads...does anyone have any recommendations?

Brompton tyres sucking the life out of me

The tyres that were supplied with my Brompton are sucking the life out of me. They are Marathon Plus. 16x13/8 So any recommendations as to a better rolling, quicker tyre. Obviously I will be trading off the puncture protection of the Plus', but dammit, they really are hard work.

    "gravel bike" tyres in 27"?

I have a resprayed Carlton tru well frame (which i bought ages ago cos i felt sorry for it) hung in my garage. I've had the thought of making it into more of a gravel style racer: nothing too ruffty-tuffty, just able to cope with the odd track or flat-ish common. Are there any tyres in 27" that...

Recommend me some full length mudguards for 700*35 tyres

Only thing is my forks dont have a bolt hole where a calliper would normally be attached. Also my forks are not round, would P clips work for funny shaped forks? Front one is all I need.

    Tyres

Since having another puncture after running over some loose gravel i'm thinking about swapping out my 'Continental Grand Prix 4000S II Folding Road Tyre' for the gatorskin ones. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/continental-gatorskin-folding-road-tyre/ I've tried running PSI from 80 to 120 but I've...

Anyone fitted 32mm or 35mm tyres into a Holdsworth Elan?

As the title really. What's the widest tyre anyone's fitted into a Holdsworth Elan frame? Looking at the clearance (currently got 25mm Hutchinson nitro 2) I could probably get a 32mm in there but it would leave any clearance for guards.

How much does dumping car tyres save you?

Someone dumped 4 car tyres at the local play area this week. The next day I spotted some at a recently demolished building site. Clearly there is some incentive to dump them. How much does it save?

    Tyres for canal towpath?

In the good weather I use my carbon roadbike with carbon wheels and rim brakes (carbon brake tract), and based on my experience of commuting in London with this setup over the past winter, and even wet summer days, the brakes are just completely inadequate once wet. So, happy days, it's new...

    Tannus tyres on a Brompton

I've fitted Tannus tyres to my Brompton. Fitting them is probably worth a thread of its own, but suffice to say it's doable at home but very difficult - and I consider myself a fairly competent home mechanic. I've done 10 miles on them and my initial impressions are that they're absolutely...

SOLD - Schwalbe Ones and Ultremo ZX tyres

Schwalbe 700c clincher folding tyres, 28mm width - and they are not noticeably undersized in width. One pair of Ultremo ZX, maybe 300 miles on them. One tyre had a small puncture in the tread which is hard to see. £15 including postage for the pair...

    Rims

I've got a PlanetX London Road and have recently suffered a puncture from a small piece of glass. Its time to get some proper tyres. I'm tempted by Schwalbe Marathon Plus, but at 35C they weigh 900g. I don't go off road very often. Could I step down to 28C(750g)? or is there another brand I...

    Flat sodding tyres

In recent weeks I've had three instances of tubes letting go, apropos of nothing. They are pumped to 100psi. The tubes are supposedly able to take that pressure. Evidently they can't. 32c plus 28c tyre combo

I have a pair of Continental Ultra Sport tyres for one of my bikes, and I quite like them so I got a spare when I saw some going cheap - they're 27 x 1 1/4, so I thought best grab them while I can. The thing is, I've only just noticed the new one is different - exactly the same name and size...

    Swapping to 25mm tyres

My new bike will have 25 mm tyres, what differences can I expect from the 23mm tyres on my current bike? I assuming they will be more comfortable and perhaps more puncture resistant but maybe there will be a decrease in speed?

Tyres on the wrong way for over two years

I've had my tyres on the wrong way, the rear for over two years, I bought this year's tyre model yesterday and it now has a new arrow pointing in the direction of travel on the side wall. Changed the tyres, so both are now the correct orientation, but, no discernible difference on my ride.

    Tubeless tyres

Is anyone here running tubeless tyres on their daily ride? I am seriously considering putting them on my hybrid as they seem like a great idea but they are still a pretty new deal and quite expensive hence any genuine experiences would be good to hear about.
