Hi there - was out cycling today on my hybrid (Specialized Sirrus Sportt) and got a puncture. I was really surprised because I've got Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres (I know they are not 100% but this is the first time I've got a flat tyre since using them). Anyway, I forgot to take some spare...
In the off chance that your tyres get punctured, would you not just use public transport?
I would lock my bike up to a nearby rack, and then catch a bus or taxi to where-ever I need to be. Do other people's tyres get punctured that often to make it worthwhile constantly carrying a repair kit?
I had one yesterday. I hit a water filled pot hole. I knew it was there but couldn't go round it in time as the scumbag motorist behind was sat on my shoulder, so i had to go over it. I heard the loud hiss followed by another a split second later. This pot hole has been there for at least a year...
So, a pile of tubes "used" in the dozen of so commutes I've done :)
Roughed area, wiped, applied glue and waited a minute or two, applied patch and pressed in place for a minute or two.
So now have four tubes patched, two need new cores:
How do you test them to be worthy of going on...
Another puncture today....averaging a couple a month at this rate. Got a Shizuoka hoy with the Kendra tyres that came with it. As light as the tyres are I would sacrifice a bit of speed for some puncture resistance. I hear marathon plus are a nightmare to get on so if I did get a puncture (less...
...and it's taken the wind out of my sails. The actual tyre seemed to have untucked itself at one part and I prised it back into the rim. (Apologies, I don't know the technical names, it might be called something else)
