Garmin Edge 520

I cannot pair the speed sensor on my Garmin Edge 1000 since doing a factory reset. I follow all the correct steps to do it but it now won't even with two different sensors. The sensors I have got don't light up at all. Does anyone know what's wrong? Maybe I should revert to my Cateye computer.
