Yesterday's, Bank Holiday Friday.1.5 miles ish to visit mum, walked alongside Longuville woods, watching and listening to lots of squirrels and crows feeding on and around an area someone is putting lots of feed out, easily 30 squirrels and as many crows in the locality. Listened to a green woodpecker and a likely Ring Neck parakeet, they've been there for years. Quite a few butterflies and bees started to show themselves. Once at mums care home, ( wheelchair) walked her to the shops, gave her a bit of time and sunshine, then back and walk home, so maybe 4 miles of walking altogether.
it was eerily quiet out there, very few people about, really quiet.
One thing I always enjoy about a walk...is we tend to chat more, no distractions I think.

Mums in a respite home for alth and we were going to see her. It's about 1.5 miles away, we decided to walk there. Lovely bright late morning, walked alongside Longville woods , watching lots of squirrels, crows, listening to green woodpecker and probable Ring Necked Parakeets. Otherwise, it was eerily quiet, hardly any people around, we figured lots of people headed out for the BH weekend.
Once there took mum in her wheelchair to the shops, probably a good 1/3 to 3/4 mile walk, still sunny, do her a power of good to get out, at 93 she's become quite frail and pale. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Walk back home so maybe 4 miles walk.
What's really nice is it allows us (and I assume lots of other people) to chat, just chat without

Me too probably. I still cycle a bit: and love to tinker. But walking floats my boat more right now. So I’ll likely be loitering in here a bit…….

Recent walk, last week to Staveley, L.District.
Leisurely route, just over 9 miles - very little walking this year due to weather and currently nursing hip injury. Plenty of PK's taken and muscle gel applied before I set off.
2.5mph average moving time is ok, plenty of rest stops (hip -ouch!). Happy with heart rate. Nice warm day. Will take a pic' or three in future!

We parked about 10 minutes walk away from Wickstead park earlier and then did two laps of it before walking back to the car .

I've never seen Hartland Manor, but I walked the coast path back in the 1990s. I love it down there, it's spectacular, and Hartland particularly so, to look at the coastline it's so savage that it's hard to believe there was ever a working harbour there. I have a picture of the Johanna wrecked on Hartland Point somewhere, and stayed at the Hartland Quay Hotel. The rock strata are amazing too, the upright slabs look a bit like books on a bookshelf, and the cliffs there are the only place I've ever seen an anticline.
