£200 for a scrappy Rudge with bent forks seems a bit steep.

"To buy this bike now (if you could), would set you back around a Thousand pounds or more."

Not only has he still got the same bike for sale two years later but he's now also got a bike from Big Birmingham Bikes listed. This was a scheme that gave bikes to people on condition that they were returned when they were no longer used. It stopped running several years ago so I don't know how this bike can be brand new.

He appears to have others as well, maybe he bought their old stock?
All Big Birmingham Bikes were bright orange Raleighs. I think the idea was that they would be distinctive and couldn't be sold on. It didn't stop people though.

Starting the description with "makes a change from the typical low spec Pioneers that come up for sale" suggests this is something different and better ...

... low-grade 501 frame = nope
... not been used, so not working = nope
... rusty chain and cables = nope
... old Shimano Deore gears = nope

£250 for an old Raleigh Pioneer needing work suggests an extra zero's been added to the actual value: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225520038035

Or ... anyone interested in a 4130 (better) framed Raleigh Pioneer with 21 gears as well, newer componentry upgrades, better wheels, etc.? Just £500

£1200 for a Sunbeam 3-speed.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225530541789

This is a top-of-the-range three speed Golden Sunbeam which cost £13 when it was new. Instead of the handlebar and other shiny parts being chromed, on the ‘All-black’ model the parts were painted.

Thirteen pounds when new? Its held its value well then because thats about the value of whats left.

I think I’ll drag that old Czech heap out of the garage and put it up for sale, I’ll be reasonable and ask the one thousand bucks it cost new.
