I've just been in the Bkool thread and see that Bkool are bribing them with prizes to keep them playing that platform :giggle:

I love looking at new bikes, but having got one earlier in the year and a frame upgraded on my old bike, under warranty I not allowed anything. I think the next bike is an upgrade for my son, he currently rides a specialized Allez dsw smartweld custom build with 105. Tommy would like it, it's matte black and very stealth like even without deep section wheels. It's light for a aluminium frame, but thinking of getting him a sworks Tarmac frame if I can get one in the right size at the right price. Would probably stick ultegra on it, possibly di2.
I had no intention of getting a new bike but I suspect you are in the pay of the bike mfgs. As soon as I started looking I want a new one. I had a specialized Sirrus in the 80s when they were a steel road bike

I'm slightly biased but it's an incredible frame it really is. And obviously a good upgrade fit wise from the Allez. Are you thinking new or second hand Kip? There's definitely a massive drop in price second hand so there are 'bargains' to be had. Brand new the sl5 is still the same price as when I bought my frame and it's rare they go below that, even with a new frame being released spesh are very controlling in that regard.

If you go ultegra I'd still get a dura ace or praxis chainset. It just doesn't look right with an ultegra one. Like Bob says, what a lucky son!

A club friend works in one of the concept stores and gets deals from time to time, so just keeping an eye out. He won't be getting one for a year or so, he is fast enough on the Allez without giving him a lighter bike.

It would be the praxis chainset, I don't like the look of the shimano ones.

Question for the ELEMNT / bolt users...

I'm out on my maiden voyage tomorrow. Nothing on the screen to say it's searching for signal. How do you know when it's locked in?

Mean, but I would of fell off the bike laughing!

Getting lost around Regent's Park would be a stretch even for me to be fair...

Strava says I've done the Lap over 1000 times now . You'd think I'd be bored of it... but there's something strangely hypnotic about the loop, that keeps bringing people back, it must be one of the most ridden segments in the U.K. Because good vehicles aren't allowed, the tarmac is really smooth, just a shame about the traffic lights messing up your averages.

First impressions of the bolt are pretty positive. I need to get used to the screen layout I think as it is a little different from the garmin, but not necessarily worse. I like the way you can toggle the amount of fields on the screen, and it seems a bit quicker than the 520 to process info. One critism I have is regards electric shifting and I wonder if you have a similar issue Andy. It only has two options for showing gear ratios. The first is a sort of sliding chart of gears, and the second is numbers going from 1-11 for the cassette and 1-2 for the chainrings. On the garmin you get get it to tell you the specific gear or gear ratio your in and it's surprisingly handy. Is that the same for di2 Andy?

Tommy, I haven't looked at those features yet, will have butchers to see if I can activate them. Watch out Tommy if you see a young woman racing around Regents park on a lime green Kona, Jake the snake bike, we dropped off daughters bike yesterday.^_^

Sounds like she'll be hard to miss!^_^

You'll have to bring your bike down with you next time you come Andy. Nothing like playing dodgems with London taxis! :okay:

You're joking, having cycled around London the day before my Pru ride, it was bloody frightening.:headshake:

When we do our family ride from London next month, I'll be so pleased when we get out of London and onto country lanes.

Haha! Fair enough

I wouldn't recommend cycling in Rome then. A friend offered me the use of his bike over there. I declined...
