Your favourite degreaser

What's your favourite degreasing liquid, say for cleaning chains, for example? I'm thinking specifically of the Sheldon shake method, but this topic isn't about the method as much as about what cleaner you prefer and why, and what any disadvantages are.

For example I've used mostly white spirit as it's a really good cleaner, quick, and can be re-used many times if you stand it and pour off the clean liquid. The disadvantages are that it stinks, it's flammable, and it's not very eco friendly.

I use white spirit. Sometimes use Wynns Carb Cleaner too to blast crap off things like the front mech. Not because I think it's great for bikes, I just always have it around. However, unlike some other products, it leaves no resedue.

White spirits on chains for me. Not sure I would use a degreaser anywhere else on a bike
