Has anyone in CC land got one or have experience with the car ?
I currently have a dacia stepway and as far as i can work out they are of a similar size so eventually we will be looking to replace it and i may have the opportunity to lease through work lease scheme .
We did consider a corrolla which i can have for peanuts as its a direct build and we get a good deal on them but mrs ck cant reach the pedals as shes under 5 foot and also prefers a car with jacked up suspension to see better too.

I've had a go in an older one driving it back from a wedding reception for someone last year and, by coincidence, my neighbour has just this week taken delivery of a new one which ive been admiring although I've not spoken to her since she got it,

Nice (I like small cars) looking, comfy for a person of my manly dimensions (but you wouldn't be a ke to sit behind me u less you were a bilateral amputee), but oh so slow.

It's effectively the 1KR FE motor from rhe original 107/C1/aygo, strangled by emissions and given drive by wire which makes the throttle response slow and wooly. The extra 2bhp doesn't make up for the loss of torque or the extra weight and I found it painfully slow. The original 107/C1 weren't balls of lightning, but the motors in that form were at least sweet and revvy and you could make progress.

I don't know if there are other engines available but if not I wouldn't be keen on one for any regular motoring outside of town.

But you might love it.

Oh, and they're still prone to cabin water leaks, usually via the welts to rhe doors but sometimes via the tailgate or high level stop light. That said, so is the Sandero/Stepway.

Brother in law has a mid range one and SIL has the top of the range with 4x4 (for some reason). Bloody ugly, and not very big inside. Having owned an original Yaris, I'd say these 'Cross' models are much smaller - had a right job getting out the back - foot got stuck getting out the door gap, and I've only size 9 feet.

Yes i have seen the reviews about them being tight in the back so i a having second thoughts atm, although the scheme is running behind plan so it would be next year anyway so we have plenty of time .
Mrs ck says she might have a look at the corrolla again as i know i can get them for around £150 a month when we can afford a newer car .

Work scheme ,I can get a 32 k car we make for £148 a month with service, ved, unlimited miles and1 tyre. No prices as yet for the Yaris but they are £24 k but obviously ones we make have no transport costs as we pick them up directly from the factory.
The stepway we have now is around £160 a month on lease from new if we wanted a new one

I asked on another forum and the opinion was that the Cross isn't as well built (more rattlers, more plasticky) than a normal Yaris. Unless you really need the extra ground clearance, not worth it.

Caveat: I bought a Mazda 3 rather than a CX-30 using the same logic, but regret it. The 3 is cheaper, more economical, faster and better to drive but the CX-30 holds its value far better, because people want crossovers and not normal cars.

I was only looking at it due to company scheme pricing, if we don't get one we would look at the bog standard corolla or a Dacia.
It's long term anyway till I get my finances straight after a couple of months of sick pay
