WTD: small touring/hybrid bike - NOW SORTED

Seeking small, fairly light bike for 13yo for light touring/leisure use. Prefer 700c wheels, space for mudguards, rack fixings, and flat bars (but willing to adapt suitable bike).
Can collect within approx 50 miles of West Yorks. Up to about £300.

I'd look on Ebay and FB Marketplace as well. Look for a Dawes Tourer/ steel tourer etc.

There's an active used bike and kit sale page on Facebook for women. You do need to be a woman to sign up but it's a good option for small road bikes (Re-cycle, pre loved cycling gear for women)

Thanks, Kingfisher and Vickster. Good advice to look for a tourer, and the FB site for women is an interesting possibility. Can’t claim to be a woman, but my wife and daughter can 😂

Just out of interest, what size is small, bearing in mind at 13 he will still be growing.

It’s for my granddaughter. Think she’d straddle something like a small (51cm?) Spa Audax, particularly if it has a sloping top tube. Definitely still growing.

How about this. It's very small. Custom made by Orbit for an intrepid lady tourer. I bought it from the original owner for my daughter- but it turns out she doesn't want a bike. Classy components, 26 inch wheels. 19 inch seat tube. Far too good to strip for parts but only suitable for someone small. Would like to see it go to such a person. It will be inexpensive (cost £685 iwhen built in 1994)
