I reckon more people read this part of the site .

So i have had a scan this morning on the knee .

Googled MRI Scan .And have found out why ,how and what for .

Could someone tell me how will it find out if i have torn the tissue in my knee .Thats my diagnosis of my knee prob .

Will it show a tear ?

Sorry if this is a bit of a stupid question .But my results will take 10 days before i know .

It will show the joint / muscles and a doc will be able to spot any problems. Uses magnetic fields and stuff to compose an image. Clever stuff !
 
Yes MRI can certainly show tears. By tears, I assume you are talking about tears in your cartilage. Normal cartilage shows up as dark on an MRI scan, however, if it is torn you will see a small brighter area in the scan where there would not normally be one. To an experienced radiologist it is pretty obvious and they can often tell what type of tear.

The scan can also detect other problems as well, but as with everything it isn't perfect and can miss some other problems. However, it helped me find out that I had a torn ACL and cartilage tear a number of years ago.
