Would I need a new derailleur?

I want to fit a 12-32 ultegra casette, replacing my existing 12-28 casette. 10 speed both. Will I need a new rear derailer? The existing one is Ultergra. I'm guessing my new chain length will need adjusting too?

You'll need a long cage rear mech (or a medium if Shimano do one). You'll need a longer chain, but it's never a good idea to add links to a ten speed so a new one would be a smart move.

From what I have seen there is not a 10 speed Ultegra cassette that goes to 32 teeth although Sram do one that is compatible but then your Ultegra RD won't work.

This is my mech...is it a 'long cage'??

I think this is the one

http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/shimano-ultegra-rd-6800-ss-rear-derailleur/aid:675725

it was upplied with the bike as new...cube race gtc agree 2014

Are you sure it's not 22 speed as this is your bike I believe.

you will need this Ultegra rear mech if you want to use an 11-32 cassette

http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/shimano-ultegra-rd-6800-gs-rear-derailleur/aid:675721

the ss in your link means short, the gs in the above link refers to medium

or you could buy a new 11 speed Shimano 105 derailleur which is cheaper and still pretty good according to reviews

There is no long cage in Ultegra. The one in the link that @wajc posted would be a med cage, which I suspect is what you have already, in which case you can use that with 32t cassette, as stated in the ad. You will need a longer chain though.
I have a med cage 105 with a 32t and it works fine.

thanks guys

I just found this 12-34 casette....http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/shimano-cs-hg300-cassette/aid:712608

this could make life in my mountians a bit easier lol!
now you are pushing it to the limit. I take it your on a compact on the front so the front is (50-34) 16th and the rear would be 22th (34-12) so a total capacity of 38th just outside the design of the RD-6800, though in fairness that probably won't be an issue. If it's designed to do 32th rear it might go to 34.
Now you see why I run a triple, I get a nice 1:1 on a 12-27 cassette, with a lot less issues about capacity, front is a 50/38/26

reality is that i do need a triple out here....i manage on th ecompact but some of the gradiants are STEEP....and being 100 kilos doesnt help much....but i got this bike...and th ebest option is a compact with higher rear end ....for now anyway...fitting a triple will cost a lot...new shifters etc....

Depends, depending on the model of your shifters, you could just get the left, a decent chainset from say Spa which has a standard 74mm BCD inner and 110mm middle and outer is about £60 and looks pretty good too, a BB £20, 105 triples are about the £130 for the pair, and then gearing options are amazing, I generally ride on the 38th middle ring with a pretty straight chain line ( it being a bit flat round here), I just measured it and after nearly 2,000 miles is not showing any signs of wear, this is either my maintenance or the chain line.
On the gearing side I can run a 12-23 on the 50/38/26 and have a low gear as low as a 34x30 (26x23), its worth thinking about as Shimano seem intent on phasing the triples out of the higher end groupsets

One of our customer services advisors has reviewed your query and we are able to confirm the following:

Hello Rolf,

Thank you for getting in touch about your cassette.

I can confirm that this should work for you, may need to add a spacer in next to the rear mech to straighten it out.

If there is anything else that we can do, then please do not hesitate to get in touch and a member of our team will be happy to help.

Kind regards,

Connor
