It's not for cyclists, it's for contact sports. It seems like a very good idea.

No, I wouldn't wear one, but only because I avoid situations where I am likely to get a blow to the head.

I wear a helmet, but I don't intend banging my head off/against against a wall simply because its on the head. That piece shows/records how hard the impact was.
