We have started (invented?) a new game at work; We've got a map of the world on the wall and each of us has been allocated a different coloured pin. When you drink a beer from a country you put your pin in that country on the map. Person with the most countries by Christmas wins and gets a crate of beer of their choice. British home countries count seperatly and nothing 'brewed under licence' is accepted.

If a few more people start one up we could form a league!

Good idea - do you get a ten point bonus for Saudi Arabia? ;)

We had thought of doing bonus points for Islamic or obscure countires etc. but it got too complicated.
It's not just about the points though, I bagged Canada with a very nice 9% ale from Quebec at a bar on the banks of the Loire whilst touring there a couple of weeks ago, which at 5 euros I wouldn't have otherwise tried.

Great idea. Tonight I've bagged:

Indonesia - Bintang
Netherlands - Zeezuiper (Schelderbrouwerij)
Belgium - Orval & Girardin Kriek 1882

I know I've already won.... when I'm in Nigeria for 2 weeks I get through a couple of bottles a day of their very excellent Star or Gulder. How do I claim my prize?

Doesn't matter how many you drink, you only get the one point per country. You'll need to travel there overland sampling different beers along the way!

Could try here http://www.beersofeurope.co.uk/ probably give you a head start , provided you don't tell the other at work. How far are you from King's Lynn?

Beers of Europe isn't bad is it ;). I knew someone who did along theselines with Formula 1 races. Apparently it used to be quite a challenge in the 70s and 80s but is much easier thesedays, apart from they keep on adding more exotic races thesedays.

I'm afraid our competion has had to be cancelled due to the company going into liquidation and us all being sent home to await our redundancy notices, it doesn't even look like we'll get this months pay.
