Years ago I took off a BB with a hammer and a screw driver , might work if it is not seized .

That's one of those little 'top hat' plugs, isn't it?

When I needed one, I walked to the LBS round the corner and bought one for about £4!

aye thats exactly it. yep ive seen them at wiggle for £4 i just hoped someone mightve known a neat trick. cheers.

aye the 1p coins bend, thanks for that, were they the correct diameter?

the reason i asked was because i watched a vid from the usa yesterday and they had pulled it off using some transit type coins specific to america. cheers colin.
The diameter seemed right. I tried using 2 but the top one bent and then the one underneath. I think a circular piece of metal the size of a 1p piece and twice the thickness would work.
