I have a cheap Bell wireless computer on my road bike. Every now and then the speed jumps for no reason. It has shown me reaching a top speed of 48.2mph and there is no way I could every do that!!!
Am I getting interference from other things or is it a problem with the computer?
It happens on almost all trips I make.

Yup, my wireless computer does the same.
I have pinpointed it to a set of traffic lights on my commute

It could be the computer but more likely you are getting false triggering from some external source. Try and see if there is anything common when it happens such as a taxi, sensor controlled traffic lights or some other form of interference. Maybe an office with wifi, it could be anything to be honest. Even cars transmit all manner of signals.

I once looked down to check the time and discovered that I was speeding along at 65mph. What's even more impressive is that I was stopped at a red traffic light at the time. :thanks:

My satmap tonight showed my lowest point as being -600ft, yes minus 600ft!

Electromagnetic interference, a set of traffic lights I used to ride past on my commute set my Sigma wireless computer off - said I'd done 190KMh on my commute - that computer broke a while ago. I have wired computers on my commuter now but do have a VDO Z1 wireless on my Ti bike which I've had no problems with.
Electric fences used to set it off too, the kind to keep sheep in.....
