wireless cycle computers

I'm wanting a cycle computer that will last me a long time and i'm assuming i want a wireless one as wired ones can damage your frame with the cable ties etc and break... is there anything particularly bad about wireless computers? like appalling battery life or anything? im looking to spend around 20 quid tops. are there computers that save a total distance travelled forever like a car?

The cheaper ones are more liable to interference, my Raleigh Echo (circa £15) is prone, whereas my dearer Cateye Micro Wireless (circa £31) is less so.

Edit and nearly every computer has an odometer (total miles/km's travelled)

I use the Cateye Micro Wireless also and cant fault it in anyway.

Cateye Wireless Strada seems to work round here. It is still on its original two batteries ( fork pick up, and display )after 15 months. Other ones may be better, but I can't fault it so far.

I used to have a cheap wireless computer which was fine unless I cycled past traffic lights installed within the past 5 years or so.

I have a wireless one that just won't work when my LED front lights are on, next time I will go back to wired

AFAIK they all record this: however, again AFAIK, they all *loose* that value when you replace the battery !! (So remember to write it down !)

Cateye Double Wireless here - bit expensive £50-£60 but it's on my commuter and has worked through all sorts of weather in last 18 months.
