Having just had an off on what was a wet road (not unconvinced as to ice or diesel being present). I have lost a bit of confidence in my 700c x 25c road tyres. Am sure this has been asked before but what do we consider to be the best winter tyres for a road bike. I use my bike daily for commuting and at weekends as my winter bike on club runs

Personally, I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference on ice. Any normal tyre will slip. I came off on wide mtb tyres. I think the only reasonably safe bet is the marathon winters or something similar with spikes. If it's just damp and a bit greasy, possible the Continental GP 4 seasons might be better than what you have on at present?

Kenda 700 x 25c. Bought the bike (Giant OCR2) 2nd hand just for my commute really. Now use it as my winter bike. Suppose I should have paid more attention to the tyres
