I bought a Specialized Secteur Comp a few months ago but will not be riding it during the winter months. Anybody any suggestions as to what to do with the bike to prepare it for a winters storage?

It will be in a garage but it can be a bit damp in there.

Thanks

Just take it out once or twice a week for a 100k

Lend it to the forum. We promise to be very careful.

Just put it away clean, lubed and pumped up(and locked)

If you have space on a wall - screw some bars in and hang it up. Tends to be better on the tyres and tubes.

Otherwise keep the tyres pumped up and rotate occasionally so not bearing the weight on one section.

I strap about 50 medium sized desiccant packs all around my bike during the winter. When the desi packs go white I know that they are spent and then I replace them all. I usually replace them twice over winter but if it's particularly damp maybe 3 times. It only takes a couple of hours so it's well worth it.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm! Quite a range of possibilities there, thanks.

Keeping it inside isn't really an option unfortunately but will look into the silica gel I think.:hello:

Silica cat litter works very well and probably comes out cheaper- spread some about 1cm deep in the bottom of an old washing up bowl and it is very good at soaking up moisture. It is very good at soaking up cat pee so a bit of dampness in a garage is no problem for it.
