Seeing as it's the middle of summer, I thought I might be able to get a good deal on a pair of winter SPD boots.
Need to keep my feet dry and toasty warm.

Can anyone recommend a pair?

I have just got myself a pair of the Shimano MW80's, Goretex lined and thermal.
Obviously not tried them yet in the cold/wet but am hoping for good things, CRC have some sizes available for £100 though there is only 38-39-46 I think for that price, fortunately I take a 46

I am hoping to use them on their own instead of using normal spd shoes and overshoes, less to carry if it's dry and less faffing about before I leave work.

Cheers. I'm a 46 too.

The Northwave Celsius also looks good.

I was hoping they would be heavily discounted, what with it being warm at the moment.

They were another on my short list Ben, like you I have been waiting for the 'summer discount' but it doesn't seemed to have happened really.
Saw the CRC offer jut before my holiday the other week and thought I'd go for it.

Sidi do some for about £200 if that's any help?

Hmm, can't see how they are worth nearly double the price.

So, Shimano for £100, or Northwave for £109
Decisions. Hard to tell which, if any, would be better.

I use the road version of the Northwaves, I think they're exactly the same just with different cleat fixings? I'm very happy with them, I get very moany about cold feet and hands, but after buying those I happily rode all through last winter, including a few 3 hours rides in the period of heavy snow (which involved a fair amount of walking when the 32mm back tyre wouldn't grip up hills), feet stayed dry and toasty throughout..

I use the Northwave Celsius GTX in Winter. They are a cracking boot, but I do have a problem on one of mine with the fastening and the velcro strap coming undone regularly. They're out of warranty now as well so I need to think up a fix before winter comes.

They won't keep your feet as dry as a good set of overshoes. They'll keep them warmer though. I have some Northwave Celsius, but compared to a normal shoe they're heavy so I save them for when its really cold. If it was really cold and wet I'd still wear overshoes.

Basically they're good for the cold but if you think they're gonna keep your feet dry you'll be disappointed (20 minutes in heavy rain last year on a bike with full guards and my boots were full of water). A good pair of shoes with plenty of room for fat merino socks plus some good overshoes would be my advice.

As I do a lot of walking as well as cycling when on tour, I use the Shimano MT90. Basically these are walking boots with SPD clips

I have a pair of Northwave Celsius Goretex, and I like them. Some reviewers have stated that they are a pig to fit, citing the fact that you have to do them up really tight at the ankle to make them seal properly, but they are fine as far as I am concerned. The link you show is to the newer version anyway!!!
