Hi
Has anyone on cycle chat had dealings with this retailer ? They have stock of some 2016 bikes discounted. I have bought online before with no real problems & I know my size in the bikes I am looking at, and ridden them so ok on that front but not heard of this company. Are they ok to deal with ?
Thank you for any replies

I've bought little bits online from them with no problems but never a full bike.

If you search for the 2 words you'll find a few threads that referenc them that may give you a few thoughts and pointers on questions to ask, as well as any responses on this thread, HTH.

Why not buy locally? If you have an Evans for example, they will price match Winstanleys

I do vaguely recall someone complaining about a bike or frame but not recently. Try the search function as suggested

back in the day when they were quite well known espcially in the MTB world they had a habit of upsetting lots of customers. Now they seem to have a smaller presence in the market and little is heard about them. I would guess that you should have a positive experience with your fingers crossed.

I bought my bike (Dawes Super Galaxy) from them 18 months ago, nearly half the list price. Friendly, courteous and easy to deal with. I wanted to put different pedals on and they had to order the ones I wanted which took a long time so they arranged to forward them on and I took the bike home with the standard pedals. I rode the bike around the local industrial estate and it was fine but after a couple of rides the gears needed tweaking so I took it for its free 6 week service after about 4 weeks. The bottom bracket failed after 4 months. I phoned them on the Sunday afternoon, they said to bring it as soon as was convenient for me which was after work the next day and they fitted a new ( and they said a much better) one while I waited. Apparently bottom brackets are only guaranteed for 3 months, but they didn't charge me.

I bought my Merida Scultura from them. Everything went fine, so all good for me. Of course that means I have no idea what their after-sales support is like if thins do go wrong.

An acquaintance of mine bought a bike in person from Winstanleys.

He said the showroom service was no frills at best, but they delivered the bike as promised, in good order, and at a good price, so he was happy.

Thank you all. I have 1300 to spend on a new bike and they had the equilibrium 20 for £999 2016, I also have an offer of £1319 for a 2017 equilibrium 20 that has full hydraulics over the previous years model. I have ridden and like this particular model. Any other suggestions along those lines I could look at and go test ride would be very welcome indeed.
Again thank you in advance

No purchase experience but did try to buy a kids bike from them a couple of years ago and a phone call revealed they didn't actually have the bike I ordered from them or many of the advertised alternatives listed on their website so I ended up getting a refund and buying elsewhere. Frustratingly they continued listing the bikes as available on the website for many weeks when I/they knew they didn't have them and more importantly couldn't get them!
Make sure they actually have the advertised bike before handing over any money because they are not very fast at refunds!

Bought various components and accessories, including a saddle where its plastic base frame cracked within a few weeks. Return handled without quibble and I was only out my postage.

Mrs Gti knows Mr Winstanley senior and he's a serious bloke and a good businessman. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them.
