PLEASE can someone turn the fan off! I am fed up with gale winds covering north wales every day. It ruins my rides and makes my legs very tired.
Can we have some windless days for a while pleeeeeeeease.;)

Sure no problem, we need the electrical socket for the pressure washer anyway

If its any consolation the winds have been horrendous up here too. I popped up to a lbs this afternoon but came out to a flat however, I wouldn't be surprised if the journey home including the p'ture stop, wind/gradient assisted took just as long as the journey out (uphill and into the wind).

Was riding on a road across open common land yesterday, about 380m high straight in to a howling westerly. Almost reduced me to a standstill. Heading home in the opposite direction later it felt like I had a motor. Good workout.

+1 on that, spent that much time slogging into strong winds this year its getting silly.

You are starting to make me wonder if I'm doing the right thing! Going home from almost anywhere I might want to go is going to be into the prevailing wind. I might as well live at the top of a hill...

The wind is your friend! Ride in it relentlessly and come non-windy days you'll be going 30mph! ;p

28/30 mph forecast today so no jolly down to the coast today. Wednesday forecast shows an abatement here in the SE.

What wind speed do you regard as manageable
  • head wind
  • crosswind?

Did a 25 miler on Sunday (good for me) and was really pleased with myself that I managed to cycle up the aptly named labour in vain hill and on uphill for about 4 miles without stopping. It was only on the return leg, when I hit a full on headwind and almost came to a standstill that I realised my hill climb had been wind assisted! Still, managed to keep going against the headwind for 4-5 miles without stopping so pleased with that.
