Can anyone recommend a decent ladies bike in the £200-£300 range. I have seen some good online offers for Raleigh Pioneer Metro and Claud Butler. Are they any good?

Raleigh are absolute sh!te to be blunt and CB aren't very far ahead in the quality stakes. Take a gander at the fare from decent brands such as Giant, Merida, Trek, Edinburgh.

The Kona 3 speed Africa Bike is a little Chromoly gem underneath the heavy rack, kick stand, basket, parking brake and nasty steel bars. I set my one speed up with skinny tyres and it flies.

I have been given a Dawes bicycle which, so everyone assures me, is the bees knees of bikes.

It certainly looks the part and, after a bit of 'sprocket tweaking' it's a gem of a machine to ride and handle.

I would have preferred the bigger frame version--but it would have been ungracious, don't you think, to have said.

'Thankyou, it's lovely, but do you have one in a bigger size?' LOL

what's the bike for? commuting? shopping, going to the pub? are looks importnat? like does it need to be ladylike and look good with heels and dresses or more sporty like?

I had a claude butler classic for a few years and i still miss it, its very heavy so not sporty but mine was very lady like and coveted by my friends it was fine for a 7 mile commute and very sturdy and comfortable.

I can recommend the Specialized Vita, just bought one from Evans after some advice on here and it's ***lovely***, a really great fit and she really flies along too!

I second that
