Will torn gel saddle leak badly

Hi

I've got a 74 mile training ride tomorrow and just noticed a 1inch tear in the top of the saddle. I can feel the gel but it doesn't seem to be oozing out. I've ordered a new saddle but I have to do this ride tomorrow with the torn one. Does anyone know if this is just going to leak the gel everywhere? And also is it likely to ruin my bib shorts?!

I know it might be hard to answer without actually seeing it but any info would be handy to "hopefully" put my mind at rest!!

Stick some gaffer tape over it?

Yeah that's a good idea, it statys opn my scuba cylinders in the sea so should be pretty water proof!!

The amount I perspire it rains every ride on my saddle :-D (sure you all wanted to know that!!)

Just to let you all know it worked a treat!! Gaffer tape still perfectly in place after 74 miles and no rubbing!! Maybe I should return the new saddle when it arrives :-)

I know a guy whose private parts just melted away after contact with leaked gel from a torn bike seat.
