My 1990 MTB has original Deore SIS SL MT60 lever shifters for it's 18 gears.

The bike is away being worked on at the moment, so I can't check to see if the cables below are compatible. Does anyone know if the ends on the cables will fit into the MT60 shifters? I would like to get them ordered now so they are ready to fit when the bike comes back.

Also, how do these shifters come apart to change the cables? Do I undo the big screw on the underside? As one of them is friction, the other selectable between friction and index, is it OK to lubricate the inside of shifters? Any advice appreciated.

Yes, they'll fit.

Shifters dont need to come apart. Turn the lever until the recess for the cable nipple is visible and feed it through.

Thanks very much for your help. Just ordered a couple.

Also glad that Drago advised not to pull the shifters apart to change cable. Removing screws could have meant a whole road of trouble ahead for me. :stop:
