Will the bottom bracket be under Warranty?

Hi,

I currently have a 2015 Trek Silque SLX, which has done over 2,000km and it is only now that there is squeaking noises from the bottom bracket.

Seeing that I still have my winter bike, an old 2011 Trek Lexa SL, which is still on its original bracket so I'm wondering, as my Silque will be two years old this October, would I be eligible for warranty repairs?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Unlikely I would think. Bearings are consumables and their life is influenced by how hard a time you give them as much as anything.

Possibly! If issues occur within, say a span of time/miles, that seem unreasonable (regardless of purchase warranty) then you could have a case. The shop/Trek may agree or do a 'gesture of goodwill.'

The BB on my Canondale SL4 MTB, purchased from Leisurelakes in Daventry, developed serious play within 3 months, and after not too many miles.
They said similar.. consumable stuff.
'After 3 months?? Shoemakers!', said I.
Oh.. righto, we'll see if we have one that will fit. Sorted. Replaced FOC.
Give it a try..

Depends on the warranty you were given, I wouldn't think they'd be under any obligation to replace it, 2000km is not a great mileage but BBs can fail even before then.

Apparently it's a BB90 type which is press fit. There are non Trek items which claim to have better longevity but I have read if you go that route you might invalidate your frame warranty.

BTW welcome to the forum.

Thanks to all above, for your comments. It is at the moment only creaking, nothing loose yet so will it be ok for me to continue cycling on my summer bike till it goes in for repairs next month?

Thanks

Cycleops, Thanks for that and no, there's no play only noises from it. It has been booked to go to our local shop on the 18th September, which is the earliest they can do.

Some Cannondales are notorious for creaking pressfit bottom brackets

Had a spin on the Silque this evening and it was ever so noisy, more so when climbing up hills but it isn't loose so its rideable.
