Hi all. The tyres on my wheels are 26 x 1.90 and I would like to fit some Shwalbe Marathon Plus's oweing to thier p*****re restiance but the largest size I can find is 26 x 1.75 would these be all right to fit on my wheels. If it is OK it would help as the 1.90's are a tight squeeze to get out of the brake arms. Many Thanks.

They'll be fine. They're only 4 mm narrower, so there'll be no problem at all.

For the brakes, there should be a thing that you either twist and the brakes open out(dual pivot brakes) or you squeeze them together and release the cable from one arm and the brakes open out.

Right sub question. As you can see by my location I live on the edge of The New Forest so would the above tyres be suitable for riding on the gravel tracks through the forest as well as on road.

What are you using at the moment on the gravel track ?

If the forest tracks are anything like last time I went on them (freshly covered in crushed flint), they will be very suitable.

You can ride off road with slick tyres no problem. You simply fall off more often :0)
