Bought myself a willier a few weeks back and am very pleased with it, however it came with campag khamsin wheels instead of fulcrum r7.The dealer asured me this was a significant upgrade, took him at his word but not so sure anymore, can anyone enlighten me?Thanks in advance for any info.

A quick Google suggests the Khamsins are £125 and the Fulcrums are £150. So in price terms little difference.

Khamsins are bog standard wheels. Nice looking, reasonably resilient but fairly heavy - they're almost 2kg. Maybe the dealer thinks everything with Campag on it is magic.

My bike was originally supposed to come with Khamsin's but i accepted an "upgrade" to Fulcrum 7's. Exactly the opposite from you. The 7's are a few quid more, but ultimately i think they must be pretty much the same. As accountantpete mentions, Fulcrum is owned by Campag.

When I bought my Wilier I paid £20 to upgrade frame Racing 7's to Racing 5's and I have been well pleased.

Hit a lot of pot holes and they are still running true. Does anybody know the life of the Wilier tyres?

Lifespan of tyres depends on too many factors (road quality, rider weight, luck etc.) to predict accurately but they'll probably last as long as any cheap road tyre. Wilier won't be making them themselves, the OEM could be any large tyre manufacturer.

I was in the shop again this morning and mentioned the supposed upgrade, again he assured me they were, due to the superior hub. I can't remember all the jargon he used but it boiled down to the hub and spokes, the hub is gold by the way.I must stress I dont feel ripped off by this as I realise the difference is minimal, just nice to know .
