wiggle returns/test ride

i am thinking of getting the verenti rhigos 03 but at the moment it is discounted by 25% and therefore according to there test ride info page it doesn't qualify because it is over 15% discount.

just wondered if anyone knows what returns/test ride procedure would be in this case.

also has anyone bought a bike from wiggle what is it like because i have only ever purchased from LBS and they only seem to stock raleigh and cube bikes.

in the product info page it states this which makes it even more confusing.

  • We're so confident that you'll love your new bike from Wiggle, that we'll let you test ride it for a week! If you're not happy with it, just email us to bike@wiggle.co.uk and we'll pick it up from you for a full refund. Just make sure you keep the box so it can be re-used to send it back. Read more about our 7-day test ride.
  • We will happily refund or exchange any item purchased on Wiggle if returned to us within 30 days.
  • We make no charge for returns - there is no restocking fee.
  • Returned goods must be unused and supplied with their original packaging.
  • We pay the return postage on any faulty item - Read more.
does this mean i would need to send the bike back unused to get a refund if needed.

That's an interesting clause, in one part it states that you're able to test ride it for 7 days and in another it says it must be unused....

IANAL...

Under Distance Selling Regulations, you can return anything(ish) bought online as long as it's within 7 days of delivery and it's unused. You're then entitled to a refund of the price of the product and postage to you, but not the cost of posting it back.

If you use the bike, and it's not eligible for a free test-ride because of the discount then you're stuck with it (assuming it's not faulty).

It might be worth emailing Wiggle and seeing if they'll extend the test-ride offer for you.

I don't think you qualify for the test ride with a 25% discounted bike - you could email them for clarification. I've bought 2 bikes from wiggle and I've found the company first class in every respect.

i also don't think the test ride applies due to the greater than 15% discount. Just weird as they have a promotion on at the moment to the end of July where you get 20% of all bikes with the voucher code tour20, which is advertised on the wiggle homepage so it would suggest that anyone taking up this offer wouldn't get the test ride either.

i emailed wiggle wednesday night and just received a reply.

Apologies for the confusion regarding the test ride offer. The test ride wouldn't be applicable to bikes that are reduced by more than 15%. If the bike is reduced by more than 15% then to be eligible for return the bike would have to be returned unridden. Collections in that case can be arranged for a fee of £20. Of course you would be able to get the bike out of the box and a short run up and down the road to get a feel for size would be fine but no extended period of test riding could be taken. Sorry about that.
