wiggle product reviews

with the recent problem with the bike purchased from wiggle, i reviewed the bike mainly to warn people to potential problem with the extra small frame size. i reviewed it on Saturday and it still isn't up on the website and doesn't look like it is going to be either.

i rated the bike overall 2 out of 5 stars i basically explained the potential design flaw with the bike and also said that i would recommend the bike to someone else as long it was the larger frame size. i also uploaded a pic of the clearance.

i did a quick check and found the lowest rating is 4 out of 5 stars on the product, when i did a search while i was waiting for the refund there was 4 rhigos 03 xsmall ex-demo bikes for sale, so someone bought them and returned it.

so i don't believe the lowest rating from customers is going to be 4 stars and wiggle are not publishing bad reviews to make it look better than it really is as you only get one side to the story.

They do sometimes take a long time to publish them. I answered a simple question a few weeks ago and it only just got put up.

Excatly same happend with my bike review it was critical of the wheight of the bike I was not happy some reviews stated the bike was light it was not. Wiggle took a whole two months to put the review on a very comprehensive review with both plus and bad points at the time of the review only 2 bikes had been sold so my 3 out of 5 would have dragged the rating down. I wish I'd waited longer it transpires the BB was second rate and the wheels awful I would rate the bike as it comes 2/5 now

Mine too was the samll size bike it did not feel comfortable especialy cornering I nearly sent it back but was just outside the 30 day return policy - Turned out the wheels were rubish I upgraded through chain reaction and the bike handles so much better now

Im dissapointed with wiggle when I had the BB fault they wanted me to send the whole bike back instead I bought a £13 shimano BB on offer at CRC and fixed it so why couldnt i just send the BB back to wiggle

There after sales service is really poor first off they send you some really basic reply you have to insist they talk to a technician they also take ages in replying s (or did in my case)

For example I told them the make and model of the bike I wanted to purchase I asked them if my carbon seast post (one i already had) would fit the bike and instead of replying NO they juts replied with the down tube dimensions bleeding ell I could of got that info from the bike description

Since then I only shop at wiggle as a last resort perhaps when there is an extremely good offer on or they send me a voucher.

Another reason I caught them out - I was looking at the Met UL helmet they are brill I liked the cut out shape at the front but I couldnt justify the price £79.99 - I received an email as you regularly do being on their distribution list which offered 15 percent off helmets Hmmmm I thought right Im having one Amazingly the helmet price had increased to £89.99 up a tenner in a couple of days I thought you cheeky beggars and never bought it out of principle Low and behold a week later the helmet was back down to £79.99

I think people are catching on to wiggles tricks and there are quite a few cheaper places but I hear they own chain reaction which beats a lot of their prices so I juts shop around now

Incidentaly the bike was the Focus Mares cyclocross bike but you'd need shoulders like mighty joe young if you had to carry it in a cross country race

ISTR one question/comment I put up re a jacket (some clarification after talking to Gore) took a while to be put up, but to be fair they've got to check stuff for general numptiness I'd expect - how main times have you looked at an Amazon review to find some idiots given something a poor review rating, yet it's because they didn't read the spec or the delivery took longer 'cos it was out of stock.
It'd be nice if stuff went up quicker, but at least there *are* reviews on there, which is more than most retailers...and I've seen low reviews on things too fwiw...

BB - I'd guess it's because the bike's under warranty. If they let you do it, then they have to know you're capable of doing so properly (they can't), or they tell you the warranty's void. Therefore they want it returned so they know it'd been dones competently and keeps the bike warranteed.

Seatpost---well, it'd be nice if they *did* tell you, but then that requires them to find out info on what seatpost you're using. Surely if they tell you the seattube dimensions and you know the post size it's a bit of a non-issue ?

Must admit I'm a bit puzzled about the 'tricks' comment - what exactly do you mean by that ?
I've had my eye on - and subsequently bought - several item in sales from them in the last year - lights and clothes - and I've not seen any dodgy dealings

Re support - hey, you should come and work in IT/electronics ! - the first enquiry mail's almost always a throwaway (sadly)...even when one often knows more about the subject that the support engineer..

Agreed they seem to be fair with reviews just take an age to put them up but when they had two 5/5 reviews ading mine would have brought it down they waited until several more had been put on then put mine on perhaps the several were before me I dont know

Most online retailers will send you a part but they ask if your comepetant first depending on the part and how easy it is to fit perhaps wiggle have a policy but I would have been miffed if they had sent it back and not fixed the rpoblem like they have done with another item I had

I gave them the info on my carbon seat post I wanted to know if the down tube would acomodate my type after all I was spending £800 with them

I'll try and clarify I only noticed because I had been waiting for the price of the helmet to come down I knew it was 79.99 because I wanted to buy it furthermore it was £79.99 for weeks and weeks then I got a 15 percent offer and went to buy the helmet it had increased to 89.99 so I didnt bother lo and behold a few weeks later its down again to 79.99 without the offer on - Im just using that as an example they dont give you the before and after sale price perhpas their systems got it wrong who knows

I work in IT for the second largest company in the world I agree support is not exactly quick

Listen Ive had some great shopping experiences with wiggle Im not knocking them for that Im pointing out some faults you dont always get to see these faults until you experience their after sales support most items Ive purchased have been quickly delivered and work fine its just lots of other retailers are catching them up and are under cutting them in some areas its as a result of my less than good experience with them I srtarted to try out other reatailers Dont get me wrong if wiggle are the cheapest I would buy from them who wouldn't
