Being on the largish size, I am looking for an extra wide handlebars for my road bike, I would like 48cm anyone got any ideas, I cant find them onlinne for love nor money.

You did say 'love nor money'? XACD go up to 46cm but will do custom size above that. Titanium only and only one shape, but the quality on mine is perfectly good - you can't really do anything wrong with a single ti tube. If you want something different and can email them a technical drawing they will do pretty much whatever you want. Very cheap, too, although delivery on a single item won't be.

Or you could get whatever is the largest size you can get here and take it to your local machine shop to put a sleeved extender in the middle.
