I have a giant defy 4, great bike and im really enjoying it. Im just under 14st and have to say im really enjoying the bike. Im using it for fitness but i enjoy to push myself on it.

I was looking at changing the front forks, purely because the paint has become marked and its annoying my OCD. Theres a Easton EC90SL carbon fork for sale not far from me for £60 and i was thinking of changing it. Is there anything i should know about these i cant seem to find any real answers about them on the internet

Easton is generally regarded as good quality kit. I almost bought a Cube peleton pro which had Easton all over

Carbon forks give a nicer ride than the alloy ones you have.

The downside is that some cheaper carbon forks flex quite a bit.

The Eastons are full carbon and are really light and pretty stiff - the steerer is really well made so there are no worries about safety unless they have been crashed. The drop outs are carbon as well so I'd prefer to look at them in the flesh and make sure that the expander for the top nut is included.

Having said all that - doesn't your Defy have a tapered headset? - If so you will need a tapered steerer and the Easton won't fit.

For £60 go for it I would always recommend carbon forks, takes the sting out of the rough roads, one upgrade I did get on my wives bike!some riders also go for carbon seat posts for the same reason, limits the vibration! :hyper:

A carbon fork on an alloy frame is a very good use of the qualities of the two materials. I have a carbon fork on my titanium Global mountain bike and I would even admit that the whole setup it almost too floppy. On my son's Dave Ferguson alloy road bike the two work together very nicely.
