When I post in Informal Rides it doesn't then appear in "What's new"

I assume it isn't new to you because you just posted in it! (in which case, I shouldn't be able to see this in the list unless someone else replies after me ...)

Because it isn't new - "what's new" only shows unread threads. Near the top right hand corner of the "what's new" screen (depending on chosen skin) should be an "All recent messages" link, which will show the threads you haven't read (in bold) and the threads you have read (not in bold).

As usual, defeated by logic, all started at school really when my teachers used to say [instead of "could do better"] "couldn't do it at all"
