He was knocked to the ground but was not injured.

A police spokesman said a female passenger then got out of the car and pointed a "long-barrelled firearm" at the man, who ran away.
Now that's what I call a Hit-and-Run.

Me thinks there is more to this story than meets the eye. Even crazed motorists don't pick random pedestrians to run over and then threaten them with guns, Do they?;)

Definately not a random act - there's a story behind that one.

However, I do always try to keep calm when driving and cycling so as not to aggrevate anyone, even though they have maybe just cut me up or whatever. You just don't know who is in the vehicle responsible. Nowadays, to some, life is cheap; and there are also a lot of unhinged people out there, some of whom carry weapons, or things that can be used as weapons.

I remember an incident near me in London about 18 years ago that a friend of mine witnessed. A car driver going up a narrow one way street found another car turning into it to go the wrong way facing him. He leaned out of his window to shout at the driver that it was one way and ended up in a brief argument. The other driver got out a gun and shot in the chest him before reversing back out and driving off.

It's not a rare occurrence - remember Danielle Cable ? (Boyfriend was in passenger seat was knifed and died after she cut up a driver)

Also a friend of mine (small female in small fiat) was bumped from behind by a 4X4 at a set of lights. Got beaten up by a big bloke in the middle of the street in broad daylight. Police refused to prosecute the driver of the 4X4 for either the accident or the assault !

Some years later we found out he was a known criminal who was the father of one of the people who "didn't" kill Stephen Lawrence. He is now doing a long stretch for bribing Police offices amongst other charges

I understand that you know of a incident with a friend and you know of one from the news, but that doesn't mean it is common. It is generally a rare occurance. In all my encounters over three years, no one has shot me or tried to beat me up (thank goodness!)
