Hi,
On the rear of my bike i have a 12mm thru axle and the captive nut that sit in the frame and what the axle screws into is offset. I didnt notice until the other day while stripping the frame down and even worse than that i actually had to replace it when i brought the bike as it was missing. After reading a write up on offset rear shock bushing and what kind of effect it can have on the geometry of the bike im assuming is has some sort of effect on rear wheel alignment maybe?

I have noticed that the rear axle doesnt line fully and i had to jiggle the wheel a bit to get the axle to bite onto the threads but i just thought it was down to the tiny amount of dropout the axle has to rest on but im not too sure now.

The frame in question is a 2010 Ghost ARM plus 5900 which has a DT swiss rear hub and axle.

Can anybody shed any light on this?

Thanks and safe riding

I doubt its offset, might just appear to be.
