Why Can't I Take Paint Off...

... with paint stripper?



Anything I have seen about stripping down a frame to metal for the purpose of re-spraying, says to sand it and sand it and then sand it some more.


Assuming all the parts are off, no moving bits, rubber bits, plastic bit... JUST the metal bit I want to respray, is there some reason you can't use a type of paint stripper?

Stripper tends to dilute and thin the pain it and it gets into the grain of the metal even more.

Remove as much as you can mechanically, not chemically.

You will get much further with J Cloth, Scotchbrite and a Dremmel, or pay a tenner to get it shotblasted.

Blowtorch and a wire bruah works quite well on a steel frame as well.
