I think there was some kind of school cycle group going across Hobmoor at the same time as lots of ordinary cyclists were trying to use the route.

The "bike traps" are a complete pain to get through, but seem to have stopped kids bringing motor bikes onto the stray. On balance I think this is an improvement as some years ago I was chased by a couple of youths on a motor bike as I crossed Hobmoor who kept shouting "give us your mobile phone".
