Who says Conti GatorSkins aren't tough? Well just look at this picture from Bike Snob NYC:

I suspect that is planted. No way would a nail go in at that sort of angle! Even if the tyre is underinflated that is shocking.

If that was a marathon plus then the nail would be bent :laugh:

I dont know. I once got a knackered alex rim when a screw popped through. Blew the tyre though. Thats a hell of a lot smoother.

It looks fake to me, I would have thought the nail would have jammed in the brake. In any case the tyre isn't that tough - the nail has gone through it... twice!

Fake or not, I think highly of Conti Gatorskins.

I have them on four of my family's road bikes.

I've heard all sorts of terrible things about them, but they have done me well.

Many months ago I went over the steel band from an exploded truck tyre at speed.

I was convinced I'd be punctured and off, but all it did was cut an evil-looking groove across one tyre and throw the bike slightly skywards. I got months more use out of the damaged tyre.

Three cheers for Gatorskins. Hurrah!
