White bar tape

I might be over optimistic but looking at the TV coverage and press pictures of this year's early race season, it seems that white bar tape is going out of fashion with the pro teams and that they're reverting to classic black tape!

About time too - now all we need is for one of the top teams to start racing on steel bikes!

I think the Pro Teams use white bar tape coz fresh tape is fitted by the Team mechanics after every stage - Sparkling white 'n fresh for the next day.
I work a few days a week in a bike shop and if a mechanic even looks at white bar tape it gets dirty!
Just wheeling a bike across the shop floor can mark the tape... (I wheel them by holding the handlebar stem)
Some customers complain that their new bike must have been used - Good Riddance to White Bar Tape!!!
As for white tyres - don't get me started!

What about white bar tape, white tyres and a semi white saddle?

I learnt a while back that there is only one worthwhile colour for bar tape, tyres, and saddles, and it ain't white.

I'm also not a fan of white bar tape but I do like some colour on the handlebars, my C40 is predominantly red and so is the bar tape (although no the same shade of red). I'm not overly keen on black tape and socks for that matter and the comment by the OP about steel racing bikes just made me smile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they use white bar tape in the summer because it keeps cooler than black bar tape while your in the alpes

Buying a white saddle was one of my stupider ideas. I've given up with white bar tape now, so my bike looks stupid with white saddle and black tape. Saddle was too expensive to simply replace with a nice black one.

While I'm at it: buying a yellow saddle was also one of my stupider ideas. I've given up with yellow bar tape etc.

I've got white Fizik tape and it marks no worse than any other light coloured tape. Fizik tape is more washable than Cinelli tape but for some reason it acts like a petri dish for mould. Just took a look at the bike after being in storage over winter and its peppered with little blobs of mould which won't shift.
