Whingeing Aussies

Don't seem to be so smug these days:biggrin:

Perhaps we should invent some new sports for them - we invented most of them anyway - something they should be good at. Perhaps Olympic Burglary or Formation Sheep Rustling would suit them:evil:

we should train up a team of gay Aboriginies to play Aussie Rules and beat one of their top teams, that would piss them off....

I'd leave the Aussie Rules to the Aussies. We play an International Rules series which is a compromised of Aussie Rules and Gaelic Football which is just another excuse for some violence made worse by the fact that the series is marketed by slogans such as "there is no compromise in International Rules".
and further no players were sanctioned by their respective governing bodies as the games were considered outside that remit.
If you like a bit of mindless thuggery masquerading as sport .. then have a look at these.

The good news is its on again this year.. But this time both the GAA and AFL have promised to hand out punishments for any violent activity. Damn knew I should have gone to Croker in 2006.

You tube is blocked at work but I've seen a couple of International Games in Croke Park, you're right about another excuse for violence. I recall a few years back Aus had made all their substitutions. When one Aus player walks up to and for no apparent reason decks one of the Irish players. The Aussie got sent off of course but the team gets to substitute him .

Tough stuff that meenaghman - I have been wasting 'u' time watching Irish gypsies knock seven bells out of each other...maybe that would be an idea "International Travellers Competition" - who can knick the most lead in one hour... fastest "pave/tarmac your drive and run away before the weeds break it race". "Shed ransack" and "Bugger up 100 square metres with scrap and crap" heats.

Jees, was that youtube compilation put together by an Irishman or are the Aussies just completely moronic thugs? They seem to like to dish it out don't they?

bet you have a good collection of Jew/black/gay jokes too.

Had a few Aussies play Gaelic with us. They were good.. ball skills were there. Often had Rugby lads and soccer lads give it a go, the Rugby boys often didn't have the football skills but didn't mind physical aspect, while soccer boys had football skills but didn't like all the physical contact. Both Aussie rules and Gaelic football are similar and as a defined sport work quite well, fast pacy games.. but the International rules series was flawed due to there being no penalty for thuggery.
I don't think either side came out of it very well.. There are nasty incidents by both sides.
I coach Gaelic Football.. my playing days are over because of the fitness it takes and what little pace I had has disappeared. The Irish rugby converts from Gaelic eg Mick Galway (who won an All Ireland with Kerry) always said the training for Gaelic Football was more ferocious than for Rugby despite Gaelic being an amateur sport and Rugby being professional. We've had some Aussies looking over at our young players and some have been granted trials in Australia. AFL highlights are shown on Irish television too.

I suppose whinging is a learned trait, but I haven't heard much this Olympics, to be honest. Perhaps you need to be friends with a better class of Aussie.

This was published on the Yahoo7 website the other day:

" Bless them, the Brits, they are so used to mediocraty and losing, that when they actually win, they don't know how to do it with grace, its all brand new...

Anyway, have to say the GB track squad was absolutely awesome, just an amazing achievement.

I know that there has been some comment about Britain's gold medals being for sit down sports - rowing and cycling.

But there has also been a fair amount of comment here that, so far, our only men's gold medals are for sitting in a boat - rowing and sailing.
