Hi I am looking to upgrade the wheels on the TCR Advanced 2 (OEM Giant PR-2 Disc) and was looking at the FFWD range.

Is there any science behind how deep the rims need to be? I love the look of the 50-65mm styles, but are they more geared towards aero speed racing rather than a 90 mile sportive? Aesthetics v what I actually need !

The PR2 wheels are pretty heavy I think, so you may feel some benefit from some decent replacements.

50- 65mm deep wheels are a bit extreme, particularly in windy scotland, great for a flat time trial in still conditions but defo form over function.

Just some lighter say 35/40mm carbon rims would make a difference.
for example...

Okay, I think my existing rotors are 6 bolt, would I need to specifically look for this or would I need to get new rotors and a new cassette when incorporating centre-lock wheelsets?

I looked at such an upgrade before, you either need converters and lockrings or centre lock rotors with a lock ring or find a set of 6bolt wheels. The third option the cheapest.

Rotors are a consumable. Buy the wheels you want and the rotors to match.
It's also useful to have your spare wheelset set up and ready to go if you need it.
